Cape Town is known as "the mother city" and there is good reason as to why this may be. Although it was given this name because of the first European habitation in South Africa, circa 1652, the indigenous peoples were here for many hundreds of thousands of years before that. Several archaeological sites in the Western Cape show habitation by the San people as far as 80 000 years ago, Klipgat Cave at De Kelders shows evidence of this. However, here at Journey Around the Sun we like to believe that Cape Town holds its very own nurturing energy. Energy that supports a sense of excitement and freedom, and an opportunity to return to your roots and remember who you truly are, and that at one point in our collective ancient history, we were all one tribe. We hope that you will decide to journey with us, and become a part of OUR tribe, remembering our collective humanity.
